Here is the first announcement…I finally finished my pencils for Logan’s Run Aftermath Issue 6 for Bluewater Comics. This is the final issue of the Aftermath series and it will be spectacular. Just check page two of the book and this is just the beginning…

I am currently working on a lot of new projects, unfortunately I can’t tell too much at the moment. But I will update my blog as soon as possible to provide everyone with the latest news. So be ready!

Phoenix and Magneto Pages

It is all about their relationship and the destructive power they will unleash upon the world as the most dangerous mutant couple ever known. This is the final piece for my villain’s poll and it is the undisputed number one villain…the Joker. I really wanted to give this piece a rough, unfinished and dirty painted look. And showing the Joker as a smiley spraying street artist was just fun!

The mixture technique I was using during the series of artworks was very interesting. It has its strengths and weaknesses and I am glad I was playing around with it…but for now I am done with it.

Here is the fourth artwork for my villain’s poll and this time it is Apocalypse. It was the first time for me drawing and painting him and I tried to make him as big and powerful as possible.

I am still working and playing around with my mixture between traditional and digital. Therefore I have also posted my initial pencil drawing. This time I was using more black outlines within the painting, because I wanted to keep the feeling of the drawing.

The best way to start my next task seems to be with my second part of some Catwoman studies. I have done some full body and anatomy studies before. But now it is time to focus more on this stuff, after all my portraits are finally done.

100 „One Hour Portraits“

One hundred portraits are finally done! I am really happy that I have achieved one small goal on my mission. The learning process was great and helped me to understand a lot of important things about value. Painting all these portraits within one hour was really tough sometimes. But it forced me to make quick decisions and find good solutions for capturing all the emotions and facial expressions. I have to admit, the hardest part wasn’t painting itself instead finding good and expressive references. Most likely I have viewed more than 10000 photos to find something special. Each piece I have painted was special to me and I am glad I have found them. After a lot of female, some male and superhero portraits I am ready to move on to the next task…but there will be more portraits…some day.

Again I didn’t zoom in more than 22 percent while I was painting. I tried to avoid getting lost in the details, because I was more focused on fast and loose brushstrokes to capture the facial expression and the lightening.

Ok, finally back to my studies. For this session I have decided to banish the zoom in function and don’t zoom closer than 22%. It was interesting to find some good painterly solutions for all the wrinkles in the faces of the old guys.
